'Constructed Landscapes' was my favourite project I pursued throughout my photography GCSE because it was a very broad and open subject in which allowed me to experiment with a range of techniques and processes to produce my work. At first the word 'landscape' appears as simple and easy to understand however when researching into a range of different artists and photographer's work, the word 'landscape' plays are large but very subtle role in their work as the boundary to whether something is a landscape or not is debatable. The project encouraged me to move out of my comfort zone in which I appreciated as I attempted different processes such as using Adobe Photoshop and various different printer settings to adjust the layers of colour found in pieces of my work which I had never tried before and so added some variety in the work I decided to produce. Constructive Landscapes allowed me to produce in my opinion my best work throughout my Photography GCSE simply because I enjoyed it the most, my favourite artists in which I researched throughout this topic were both Lorenzo Vitturi and Dafna Talmor as taking inspiration from both these artists work was very flexible and allowed for a lot of variation between each piece of work I produced for example, Vitturi's process in neutralising the background and changing the main subject into a colour deemed both odd and uncanny was very available to variation as it could be done with almost any image including a rural landscape. I feel that this topic also improved my ability to take photographs in general as it opened my eyes into searching for suitable compositions and vanishing points in which make a photograph pleasing to look at and I feel that this improvement can be seen throughout my work in this topic. Overall I really enjoyed how this topic went as it taught me to refine my work and opened my eyes to new processes and techniques and I hope to look back on this topic and appreciate how it helped me to improve my work as a whole.
